Title:

RR 48 - Form and Distribution of Trace Elements in Biomass for Power Generation

Type:

Research Reports

Author(s):

D Cohen

Summary:

The trace and major element content of biomass, analysed in this scoping study, display high degrees of variability for some elements between different species and between different organs within a given plant. The highest metal contents in biomass generally occur in those materials containing significant mineral (inorganic) components, such as paper sludge, sugar cane trash and dynamic lifter, however it is also the case for the material described as “green waste? There are still several unknowns which include the variation of metal uptake with seasons, between species and other local environmental effects.
