Impact reduction, capital maximisation and adaptive resilience - This 4th paper discusses the concept of Adaptive Sustainability that was introduced in a prior paper (Discussion Paper 2) and compares it with the more established notions of sustainability based on environmental impact reduction and natural capital enhancement. This CCSD project is well on the way towards developing a distinctive, forward-looking, strategic approach to sustainable development that we judge is both sound in itself and able to offer coal chain industries a superior framework and principles within which to prepare and evaluate their own responses to the increasing need for sustainable development. |
