Title:

TA 52 - Techno-Economic Assessment of Power Generation Options for Australia

Type:

Technology Assessments Report

Author(s):

Louis Wibberley, Aaron Cottrell, Doug Palfreyman, Peter Scaife, Phil Brown

Summary:

This report updates the earlier CCSD report on a Systems Assessment of Future Electricity Generation Options for Australia published in 2004.

It summarises technology assessments of low emission electricity generation technologies in an Australian context, with a time horizon of 2015. On-going research and development (R&D), technology development and reassessment of options continues to change the order of merit of the technologies in terms of overall cost estimates and technology development pathways. Despite extensive analysis over the last few years, no clear winner has emerged for all situations. In addition to updating assessments of coal fired technologies such as IGCC and Oxy-fuel combustion the report also considers advanced pf with post combustion capture, solar thermal, coal seam gas, and nuclear.

This is a large report. To down load an electronic version please go to "Comparing Emerging Technologies" in the Products and Services section of the CCSD website.
