Title:

Discussion 6: Industrial Networks- a tool for sustainable planning

Type:

Industry Discussion Papers

Author(s):

Summary:

Sustainability assessment, and sustainable development planning, should be constructed in whole-of network terms. The Australian coal supply and utilisation industry is part of a wider energy-services provision industry, which is itself embedded in a wider social and economic system. This discussion paper argues that some of the best potential for improved performance (environmental, economic and social) will come from explicitly recognising the wider network of organisations of which the industry is a part, and from explicit consideration of the re-design of both internal and external network interconnections.
