Summary:

Asian countries show continued high rate of change across energy systems. This report updates a prior assessment made in 2003. South Korea has very limited fossil energy resources, and relies heavily on imports of oil, natural gas, coal and uranium. In world rankings, it is the ninth largest oil consumer and fourth largest net oil importer, the second largest importer of LNG (around 25% of all LNG produced), the second largest importer of coal (after Japan), and is sixth in nuclear power generation. It is a major customer of coal, natural gas and uranium resources from Australia.
