Published in two sections, the first section updates national generation portfolio modelling examined in earlier work and investigates possible portfolio mixtures given the uncertainty in market factors. The second section analysis of investment in electricity generation assets, given the present uncertain economic and policy environment. The principle decision making drivers are the long-lived largely irreversible nature of electricity generation assets and the uncertainty in prices of future CO2e permits that will be required to meet obligations following the introduction of emissions trading in 2010. |
