Title:

RR 88 - Coal Ash Slag Viscosity Prediction and Characterisation for Applications in Entrained Flow Coal Gasification Technologies

Type:

Research Reports

Author(s):

Alex Kondratiev, Evgueni. Jak, Peter Hayes

Summary:

The report describes new mathematical models that enable the viscosities of liquid slags and solid/liquid slag slurries to be predicted. The structurally-based, quasi-chemical viscosity models are capable of describing the viscosities of slags in the 7-component system Al2O3-CaO-‘FeO’-K2O-MgO-Na2O-SiO2 at iron saturation, and all associated sub-systems with the overall accuracy within 25 per cent; this is a major advance in scope and accuracy over existing viscosity models.

This report is not included for circulation and remains confidential to CCSD participants only.
