Project 1.1 - Coal in a Sustainable Society

Project Description
A substantial component of this project will be to provide Life Cycle (LCA) and other assessment tools for the CCSD. The life cycle components will involve extending classical LCA methodology and tools to incorporate social and economic dimensions – using material from other projects, and a practical “Externee Approach”. These studies will be complemented by a Cleaner Production studies and should provide enhanced identification of improvement opportunities.
A core activity will also be to carry out life cycle assesments for technology combinations identified for options analyses in other Centre projects. This will include the development and testing new KPIs for sustainability.
