Future Scenarios and Technology

Project 4.2 - Greenhouse gas reduction and options

Project Description
The project will review international developments related to carbon dioxide capture/sequestration and zero emission processes, and the technology matches for coal and sequestration options. Life-cycle analyses will be performed to evaluate and refine the various scenarios identified for capture and sequestration.

While research into the development of capture technologies may be outside the scope of the CCSD’s strategic plan, it is necessary that it has a clear understanding of the present state-of-the-art with respect to such technologies and how they might best be integrated with coal-fired power generation systems to minimise their economic impact.
