IronmakingProject 5.1 - Coal Use in Blast FurnaceProject Description The key strategy in fuel rate reduction is to operate the blast furnace at lower temperatures. The project will provide a new understanding of coke reactions and its behaviour at lower temperatures blast furnace conditions. The replacement of carbon fuel will be addressed by understanding the impact of alternative fuel injectants. Replacing PCI fuel with alternatives provides an opportunity to leverage the use of hydrogen as a reductant.
