By-products and Waste

Project 6.1 - Waste management

Project Description
The project will investigate the technical issues in the management of liquid and solid wastes associated with coal utilisation. Successful management of waste produced when coal is combusted, gasified or used in iron making technologies is essential for the sustainable use of coal.

This project delivers value by identifying ways to responsibly manage their disposal as waste. Options for waste disposal, reduction, recycle and use will be assessed against developed sustainability criteria. The overall objective of this project is to conduct research as appropriate on identified key leveraged areas related to byproduct disposal, and to deliver a broadly based assessment of the environmental impact of waste disposal
